Philosophy of the Practice with Jillian Goodwin

This practice centers on supporting people in reclaiming their own knowing by cultivating a deeper relationship with intuition, body wisdom, and lived experience. Healing is not found in certainty but in deepening one's capacity to listen.

Healing is not confined to the mind. It includes the full body and spirit, held within relational and cultural context. Much of human life unfolds through experiences of change and loss: the ending of relationships, shifts in identity, encounters with illness, the deaths of those we love, and the quiet grief that accompanies the passage of time itself. Grief is not simply a symptom to resolve but a natural response to loving, belonging, and living within a world that is constantly changing.

Healing is not the end of the story. Integration and becoming follow, allowing a person to live with greater autonomy and authenticity. Careful attention to our histories, our losses, and the ways we have learned to survive them gradually transforms trauma and grief into deeper connection with life.

We begin to restore a sense of familiarity and belonging that can relieve the suffering of isolation by integrating multiple ways of knowing—clinical, creative, ancestral, and somatic. Attending to history, environment, and inherited patterns allows us to move beyond self-blame and toward a clearer understanding of the systems and conditions that shape our lives. Context matters. When it is acknowledged, new possibilities for care and change emerge.

We all deserve access to humane, liberating forms of support that honor complexity, restore agency, and meet us as whole beings.

The philosophy of this practice recognizes the influence of systems, culture, and history, while the work itself unfolds through careful attention to the individual life in front of us.

Therapy at School of Seraphs is relational, collaborative, and responsive rather than prescriptive. Each person arrives with their own history, nervous system, relational patterns, and way of making meaning. Sessions become a space to listen closely to what is already present: the body’s signals, emotional responses, internal narratives, and the places where something new may be trying to emerge.

This work is informed by trauma-aware psychotherapy, creative arts therapy, somatic awareness, and interpersonal process. These orientations are not applied as rigid techniques, but as ways of helping people reconnect with their own internal intelligence and capacity for integration.

Approach

School of Seraph's Pillars

01

Relational Presence

Change happens within relationship. Therapy offers a space where experiences can be spoken, witnessed, and explored without urgency to fix or resolve them. Through steady presence and thoughtful dialogue, new forms of trust, understanding, and self-recognition begin to develop.

02

Embodied Awareness

Human experience is not only cognitive; it is carried through the body, felt by the spirit, and processed in the mind. By paying attention to physical sensation, breath, imagery, and emotional responses, we begin to understand how the body holds memory, resilience, and signals for change.

03

Curiosity, Meaning, and Integration

Insight alone rarely transforms a life. This work supports the process of discovery through compassionate curiosity, integrating insight into lived experience, and deriving meaning from grief, transition, and personal history to  move forward with greater clarity, agency, and connection.

Who Am I

I’m Jillian Goodwin.

I work with people who find themselves in moments of deep transition and grief, when familiar structures shift. My role is not to direct or correct your path, but to sit with you as you begin to see yourself more clearly. I lead with genuine curiosity in order to witness, reflect, and support the process of remembering what you already carry within you.

Too often, the complexity of human life is reduced to diagnoses and categories, and the deeper relational connections to our shared humanity is lost. All these experiences led me to create School of Seraphs, a practice centered on relational presence, embodied awareness, and thoughtful integration.

At the heart of my work is a belief in the power of genuine human connection and in Nature as one of our greatest teachers. Therapy, too, requires a living container: ethical boundaries, thoughtful structure, and enough spaciousness for what is true to emerge. Like a forest, this process depends on relationship, rhythm, interdependence, and care. It is not always linear. It moves in seasons, through rupture and repair, growth and decay, rest and renewal. Within that container, meaningful transformation becomes possible.

To sit beside another person as they explore their life, their grief, their questions, and their becoming is a profound privilege.

My maternal lineage is rich with women who served as counselors, healers, and keepers of space for their sisters and their communities. I carry that lineage forward and approach this work with humility, curiosity, and deep reverence.

Beginning this work is a meaningful step. This page outlines the practical details of working together.

Sessions

Individual sessions are 50 minutes and typically occur on a weekly basis or depending on your needs and the stage of the work. I ask that you hold 60 minutes for the session so there is time to transition thoughtfully from this container into whatever follows in your day.

Therapy is most effective when approached as a consistent process rather than a series of isolated conversations. Regular sessions allow space for trust, reflection, and integration to develop over time.

Occasionally, longer or one-time sessions may be available for specific offerings.

Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise arranged.

Insurance

School of Seraphs operates as a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly.

This allows the work to remain flexible, confidential, and guided by the needs of the individual rather than insurance limitations.

Cancellations

Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours notice are charged at the full session fee. This policy allows the practice to remain sustainable and respects the time held for each client.

If you find yourself uncertain about attending a session, it is often helpful to bring that experience into the conversation rather than canceling.

A Note on the Process

Therapy creates the conditions where reflection, understanding, and meaningful change can occur.

This work asks for honesty, patience, and curiosity. Over time, the process often becomes less about solving problems and more about developing a deeper relationship with your own life.
